TIKTOK ADS MANAGEMENT

TikTok ads that earn their budget in new customers

Spark Ads, Smart+ and TikTok Shop campaigns run as part of your paid media plan by a senior operator, with creative built for the feed and results judged on blended new customer cost rather than TikTok’s view based reporting.

TikTok ads management for an ecommerce brand means treating TikTok as a prospecting channel with its own creative rules: native, creator led video, Spark Ads that put spend behind posts people already like, and TikTok Shop campaigns where the brand sells in app. It should be judged on blended new customer acquisition, not TikTok reported ROAS.

Cheap reach is not the same as cheap customers

TikTok impressions are cheap. Triple Whale’s 2026 benchmark across more than 5,900 brands puts median TikTok CPM at $4.08, down 28.48% year over year (Triple Whale, August 2026), against a $15.06 median on Meta. But the same data puts median TikTok ROAS at 1.51, with conversion rates falling, and it varies hard by category: apparel and accessories brands sit at a median 2.70, while health and wellness brands sit at 0.42. Cheap attention is only valuable if the creative and the offer turn it into customers.

TikTok’s own reporting makes this harder to judge, because a meaningful share of attributed conversions can be view based: someone watched a video, did not click, and bought later through another channel. Some of those sales were genuinely driven by TikTok. Some would have happened anyway. The honest way to value the channel is blended: does new customer acquisition across the whole business improve when TikTok spend goes up?

Commerce inside the app changes the maths again. TikTok Shop’s US gross merchandise value reached $11.8 billion in the first half of 2026, up 103% year over year, according to Momentum Works and Tabcut. For brands that sell in app, TikTok is no longer only a traffic source. It is a storefront with its own ad products.

What TikTok ads management covers here

Five workstreams, run inside the same paid media plan as your Meta and Google spend, so TikTok competes for budget on the same terms.

Creative built for TikTok

TikTok punishes ads that look like ads. Creative is briefed for the feed: native pacing, a hook in the first second, creator voices over brand voices, and trends used only when they fit the product. Fatigue arrives fast, so the testing calendar plans for more volume and faster rotation than Meta needs. The testing method is on the performance creative page.

Spark Ads and creator content

Spark Ads put paid reach behind existing organic posts, from your account or a creator’s, keeping the likes, comments and shares attached. We choose which posts to boost from how they performed organically, collect the authorization codes, and test Spark Ads against standard in-feed ads so you know whether that social proof is lifting results.

Campaign structure and Smart+

Smart+ campaigns let TikTok automate targeting, bidding and creative rotation, and they can work well once the Pixel and Events API are sending clean purchase data. Manual campaigns stay where testing needs control. Budget is sized so each ad group can exit learning rather than being spread thin across dozens of them.

TikTok Shop campaigns

For brands selling through TikTok Shop, GMV Max campaigns are run alongside website traffic campaigns, with clear rules for which products are pushed where, so the two do not bid against each other for the same buyer.

Measurement

TikTok Pixel and Events API deduplicated, attribution windows set deliberately, and TikTok’s reported results reconciled against blended new customer data in Triple Whale or your analytics. Where budget allows, a geo or time based holdout gives a cleaner read on what TikTok actually adds. The measurement foundation is covered under tracking and attribution.

When TikTok belongs in the plan

TikTok is rarely the first channel to fix. For most ecommerce brands, Meta and Google carry the foundation, and TikTok earns its place once measurement is clean and there is a creative pipeline that can feed it. We add it when three things are true.

  • The product works on video. It can be shown, worn, used or reacted to in a few seconds.
  • Your customer is on TikTok. The audience is broader than its reputation, but the brand still needs evidence its buyer is there.
  • There is creative capacity. TikTok needs more new assets each month than Meta does, and a realistic plan to produce them.

Is this a TikTok advertising agency?

It does the same work a TikTok advertising agency does, inside a different structure. This is an operator model led by Jason Lu, a fractional CMO who executes. He owns the paid media plan and the number, stays in the accounts, and puts specialists from his team on creative strategy, editing and builds under his direction.

That matters on TikTok because the channel is easy to over-credit and easy to under-invest in. A TikTok specialist is measured on TikTok’s numbers and has every reason to grow TikTok’s budget. Here, TikTok competes for budget with every other channel on blended results, and it gets more when it brings customers the other channels were not reaching.

Two ways to work together

  • Done for you. We run TikTok end to end, from creative briefs and Spark Ads to campaign structure, Shop campaigns and reporting.
  • Done with you. Your in-house team or creator partners run the channel, and Jason directs strategy, sets the testing plan and reviews results against the rest of your media.

Brands with an in-house content team that already posts on TikTok often do best with done with you, because the hardest part of the channel, a steady supply of native video, already exists. Brands starting from zero usually need done for you, at least until the creative pipeline is running. Either way, the ad account, the Pixel, the TikTok Shop and the creative stay yours.

What the first 30 days look like

Week one: the TikTok Pixel and Events API checked for deduplication and value accuracy, the catalog connected, and a baseline of blended new customer acquisition set before any spend changes. Week two: the first creative batch briefed and produced with your creators, and Spark Ads permissions collected. Weeks three and four: a structured test with a defined budget and written success criteria, read against blended new customer data rather than TikTok’s dashboard alone.

By day 30 you should know whether TikTok is adding new customers the rest of your media was not reaching, and what it would take to scale it. Sometimes the answer is not yet, and that is a useful answer too.

What this looks like in a real account

A womens fashion brand more than doubled its new customer orders across the first eight months of 2026, from 7,625 to 18,735, a 146% rise on the same period of 2025, while new customer acquisition cost fell 21%, from $86 to $67. That growth came from scaling spend across more than one channel while holding new customer cost to a margin floor, which is exactly the test TikTok spend has to pass.

What this does not claim: these figures are blended across every paid channel in the account, they are not TikTok results, and no incrementality test isolated any single channel. They show the standard a channel is held to before it gets more budget. The detail is in the womens fashion case study.

Who this fits, and who it does not

TikTok makes sense for ecommerce brands already spending $50K or more a month on paid media, with a product that sells on video and a creative pipeline, or the willingness to build one. On the 2026 benchmarks, apparel, fashion and accessories do particularly well on TikTok. It fits brands already selling on TikTok Shop who want the ads side run with the same discipline as the rest of their media.

It does not fit brands hoping TikTok will fix a weak offer, brands that cannot produce or source regular video, or brands in categories where TikTok restricts advertising. It does not fit anyone who wants TikTok judged only on TikTok’s own report.

Common questions

Are TikTok ads worth it for ecommerce brands?

For many, yes, especially in apparel, fashion and accessories, where Triple Whale’s 2026 median TikTok ROAS is 2.70. In other categories, such as health and wellness at a 0.42 median, the channel needs a sharper creative and offer strategy to pay back. The deciding test is whether blended new customer acquisition improves when TikTok spend goes up.

What are TikTok Spark Ads?

Spark Ads use existing organic TikTok posts, from the brand’s account or a creator’s, as ads while keeping the original engagement attached. Creators authorize use with a code. They often outperform standard in-feed ads because they look and behave like normal content.

Do you run TikTok Shop ads?

Yes, for brands selling through TikTok Shop. Shop campaigns are planned alongside website campaigns so the two do not compete for the same buyer, and results are reported against the rest of the business rather than in isolation.

How do you measure TikTok when so many conversions are view based?

By looking beyond TikTok’s report. TikTok’s attributed results are reconciled against blended new customer data, and where budget allows we run geo or time based holdouts. If new customers across the business do not move when TikTok spend moves, the channel does not get more budget.
