For the purposes of data protection law, Plaid Testing is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
Information you give us
Two forms on this site collect information: the growth audit request form and the contact form. Both ask for your name, email address, company or website, and whatever you choose to write in the message field. Some fields are optional and are marked as such.
If you email or call us directly, we hold that correspondence and any information in it.
We ask only for what we need to respond to you and to assess whether we are a fit for your business. Please do not send us sensitive personal information, financial account details, or passwords through these forms.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, our analytics tools record standard technical information: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, referring website, browser and device type, and time spent on the page. We use Google Analytics 4 for this. Google processes that data on our behalf and its own privacy policy applies to its handling of it.
Our web host also keeps server logs, including IP addresses, as a normal part of operating and securing the website.
Cookies
This site uses a small number of cookies. Some are strictly necessary for the site to function and for form submissions to work. Others are analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, which help us understand which pages are useful and which are not.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop the forms from working. We do not use cookies for advertising or retargeting on this website.
Why we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- Respond to your enquiry and schedule a growth audit if you request one.
- Prepare for and carry out that audit, including reviewing the public information about your business you have pointed us to.
- Send you the findings of an audit you requested.
- Maintain business records of who we have spoken to and what was discussed.
- Understand how the website is used so we can improve it.
- Meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations.
Where the law requires a legal basis for processing, ours is our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries and operating our business, or the performance of a contract where you become a client.
Marketing
We do not add people to a marketing list simply because they submitted a form. If we ever introduce a newsletter or marketing emails, it will be by explicit opt-in, and every message will carry a working unsubscribe link.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
We use a small number of service providers who process information on our behalf, under contract, and only on our instructions. These currently include our website host, our email provider, our analytics provider, and our customer relationship management software. We may add or change providers, and this list describes categories rather than a fixed roster.
We will disclose information if we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Client data
If you become a client, we will often be given access to your advertising accounts, analytics, and commercial figures. That information belongs to you. We treat it as confidential, we use it only to perform the work you have engaged us for, and we do not disclose it to other clients or third parties without your written permission. Where we publish results, we do so at category level (for example, “an athletic apparel brand”) and never name a client without written consent.
How long we keep information
Enquiries that do not become client relationships are kept for up to two years, so we have context if you come back to us, and then deleted. Client records are kept for the duration of the engagement and for seven years afterwards, which reflects our tax and accounting obligations. Analytics data is retained according to the settings in Google Analytics.
Where information is held
We are based in the United States and our service providers are mostly located there. If you contact us from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws from your own country.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive it in a portable format.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended gives you the right to know what personal information we have collected about you and why, to request its deletion, to request correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in that Act.
To exercise any of these rights, email jason@plaidtesting.com. We will respond within the time the applicable law requires, and we may need to verify your identity first.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, our forms use spam protection, and access to the systems that hold enquiry and client information is limited to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This is a business website. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
This site links to other websites, including LinkedIn and Triple Whale. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we suggest you read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be noted on this page.
